Morrad reaches deal to buy Padres

Padres majority owner John Moores has signed a contract with Jeff Moorad, a general partner of the Diamondbacks, agreeing to initially sell about a one-third interest in the franchise.

Moores said that under terms of the deal, Moorad and his partnership will have as long as three years to buy out the controlling interest. Until then, Moores will remain the Padres' control person, representing the club at owners' meetings and sitting on numerous committees.

I'm a fan of Morrad's already.........but I hate us losing Sandy.......I realize there is no way to have both here, but Alderson will be missed IMO

I'm only curious if he's stating that just as a fact, because that's the decision that was made, or if he's saying that because he doesn't want to work with Moorad.

Morrad wants to be the CEO ........so there is no room for Sandy.......it's not personal....the two have respect for eachother and get along (so they say) but Morrad is a hands on guy
