Absolutely!! Jake didn't ask for a trade so he is just looking out for numero uno.

I'd just like to state for the record once again that I never, once, insinuated that Jake doesn't have the right to use his NTC how he sees fit.

Re: Jake Peavy traded this offseason?

According to FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal, the Padres have decided they prefer Tyler Flowers to Gorkys Hernandez as the second player in a Jake Peavy deal.
Yunel Escobar would be the top property acquired by San Diego. Flowers over Hernandez is interesting. If Flowers were a solid defensive catcher, he'd be a definite top-30 prospect at this point. However, he fits best at first base and the Padres shouldn't need help there anytime soon. Hernandez doesn't have nearly the same offensive potential as Flowers, but he projects as an excellent defensive center fielder. He'd seem to be the better option for San Diego.
Interesting to see what happens here before Thanksgiving. Braves are growing impatient so they might just grab a guy from free agency. I still think the Braves have the best shot.

Is Jake still threatening to invoke his NTC if Escobar is in the deal?

Re: Jake Peavy traded this offseason?

Did he ever say otherwise ? I'd say yes.......he was clear when he said he would only waive to go to a contending team, and he wouldn't go to a team that didn't have a starting SS.....

What many don't seem to get is that the Padres with Peavy are more likely to contend next year than the Braves.....So don't be shocked if he nixes this deal or the Padres finally pull out if the Braves refuse to part with the pieces needed

Sandy Alderson said yesterday that Peavy would NOT be traded if they didn't get exactly what they wanted

And so much for this.......a deal is apparently happening and we're getting ****ED
The Atlanta Braves, full-steam ahead in their pursuit of right-hander Jake Peavy, are offering a four-player package of players, and San Diego is expected to request that Peavy waive his no-trade clause so the deal can be completed, CBSSports.com has learned.

Escobar, Hernandez, Morton and Boyer for Peavy
link and I hope it's dead wrong because we'd be dealing Peavy for a starting SS, a relief pitcher, a #5 starter, and a CFer who is no better than Hunter and behind him in the scheme of things.......and CF at that level is something we DON'T LACK !!!

WTF happened to Flowers being included......at least we'd have a mashing catcher on the way.......

Maybe Jake will nix it because Escobar's in it.

I said this on another site that my only hope is that Sandy Alderson nix's the deal calling bullshit on this fiasco in the making.....He has the power and has said openly that he's against dealing Jake unless what comes back to us can make this team better.......well this does NOT accomplish that

I seriously doubt the site is accurate. Morton hasn't even been mentioned in other deals and his minor league numbers aren't even good. Escobar and Hernandez is a good start though.

Re: Jake Peavy traded this offseason?

CBSSports.com's Scott Miller believes the Padres will soon ask Jake Peavy to waive his no-trade clause to complete a deal to Atlanta.
Miller thinks the deal involves Yunel Escobar, Gorkys Hernandez, either Charlie Morton or Jo-Jo Reyes and one more pitcher, possibly Blaine Boyer or prospect Jeff Locke.
Looks like this is going to happen. Maybe the Braves explained to Jake that they would go out and get a suitable SS to play behind him. Reyes is a lot more attractive for the Padres and so is Locke. Escobar, Hernandez, Reyes and Locke is a good package for a team dumping salary. Trading Greene and Giles will get more pieces to the puzzles.

Hernandez is a waste for us........a useless piece......KT had told them he wanted Flowers to replace Gorky's in the deal......and that needs to happen still......

How exactly is a 20 year old defensive whiz in CF a useless piece?
