    Ouch! Chris Young...

...was hit in the face by an Albert Pujols line drive and broke his nose. This guy is SO freakin lucky to not have had anything worse. He actually took it in a place that 1) heals quickly and 2) isn't totally necessary. The brain is a bit more necessary. However, i'm sure it was incredibly painful and he was bleeding everywhere, so I hope he's ok and makes a quick recovery.

A few things I took away from this play:
    1) Albert Pujols is a great sportsman. He goes DIRECTLY into prayer with Padres 1st baseman Adrian Gonzalez after he gets to 1st. He then goes right over to Young and supports him as the trainer staff tents to CY.
    2) I find Matt Vasgersian's call of this play is INCREDIBLY professional. I'll say it again, he's the best broadcaster in baseball.

I encourage you to watch the video and comment on what you think.

What is INCREDIBLY professional about the call
I did a lot of good things as a sim league GM.

Ah, give me something clever to say here.

i don't know, i just feel like he handled a very dicey situation very well. it's VERY hard to call an injury like that. I was broadcasting motocross at a stadium not too long ago, and a guy crashed and wouldln't move for like 15 minutes. He ended up being paralyzed. During the whole thing I just couldn't come up with the words to say, there was way too much dead airtime.

He just handles it very very well, and just lets the people know what's going on, which is harder than it looks in a situation like that.

That calling of the incident wasn't any different from the one by the Cards announcers.

Good thing that Chris will heal from his broken nose quickly, but the hard part for him will be getting that horrible incident out of his mind as he gets back up on the mound. He is also like 6'10" or something close to that so when he strides to the plate in his pitching motion he ends ups even closer to the plate than the average pitcher with average height.
