Thought of April at first and thought WTF, but then remembered the rest of the season?

It's easy to say "let's get rid of Brian Giles" but then you have to replace Brian Giles.

We already have to fill left field and center field, do we really want to go for the whole 9 yards and make it so we have to fill the entire outfield?

Brian Giles may not be the Brian Giles we all expected when he was traded for, and yes he's a bit overpaid, but he's still an asset to the team.

We may have that as it is...........he very likely might not be ready to go until May, and thats IF he recovers from what is actually a pretty severe injury for a guy his age.......This situation isn't good, and if you can dump him and that salary now is as good a time as any..........but it's not going to happen..........but that still leaves a hole to be filled

    Re: Marcus Giles gone

I'm not saying I wouldn't be ecstatic if they managed to find a way to replace him with someone better without hindering their ability to fill the other two OF slots.

I'm just saying that focusing on doing so might be giving us more problems than it's worth as we already have 2 other OF positions to fill.

I mean, yeah it'd be cool if they can replace Brian Giles with someone better, but it'd also be better if they can replace Josh Bard with someone even better.

They have to fill CF, LF, 2B, and two spots in the starting rotation. Why add RF to this?

As far as the injury goes....just start Hairston there.

    Re: Marcus Giles gone

In my world.........we'd do something like this........and it's realistic and plausible

    RF - Fukudome - 10m
    CF - Crisp - 4.5m
LF - Giles ( Hairston until he's ready then as out 4th OFer )
    2b - Antonelli - 380k ( Blum & Hairston as back up )
#4 - Sign a #3 type arm for around 5m, or acquire Prior, or sign Clement to an incentive laden win win for both sides type of deal.
#5 - Hensley 450k, Germano 380k, LaBlanc 380k etc. would do fine if the rest fall into place

Ba Bye. Do you think B Giles wil hold a grudge against the organization for letting little bro go. Didnt he already pass some comments about how unfairly MG was treated at the end of the season. if thought that was bad what does he think about this?

    Re: Marcus Giles gone

That could be him just sticking up for his little brother.

Who knows how much he really cares about it in a sense of holding a grudge or anything.

(Obviously he has some care, I mean he is his brother after all, he'll definitely take his side in the matter)
