Atkins double was not a homerun per ball park rules there was a blip on this in a sports illistrated article i posted somewhere here. So it is not a valid argument

BEAUTIFUL!! I guess Joe Torre has managed his last game for the Yankees, though I think it's ludicrious to fire him, but that's just my opinion.

There's no conclusive evidence in there that says shit about it being only a double. It says the umpire RULED it hit the yellow pad. The umpire also RULED Holliday safe. I haven't seen a ball hit of the yellow pad like that EVER.

And I realize that bringing up the Atkins homerun is the cool thing to do for the supporters of the Rockies or whatever, I think it still is chickenshit. Shit happens (yea I bet it is a shitty feeling but the umpire had the best position in the house to call the play). Get the **** over it already it happened a week ago.
    1. I would challenge you to find a post of me saying his hand couldn't have been under his foot.

    2. I've maintained since the end of the game that the homeplate missed call would likely not have changed who won. They were hammering Hoffy, and I doubt Black pulls him, so I believe the Rocks were going to score that inning regardless.

    3. That homerun call was a blown call also......again I don't think I ever disputed that, once I heard the ballpark rules on the fences.

    4. If you're referring to me being over it........I was over it the second after it happened.........He never touched, but I don't believe it screwed us at all......if you're referring to others getting over it fine.......but check yourself if you're talking to me, I'm well passed it.........He'll I've been dwelling on next year and who to get......not last year what what happened

It hit the cross bar at top of the chain link fence that the pad was supposed to be covering, and that's why it got such a richochet. Again.....this was easy to spot on a decent TV in HD

I wasn't referring to you at all for the whole post meng. I was referring to those who keep bringing it up. My whole post wasn't pointed to you at all as it has been pretty obvious to me that we have been on the same page for the most part during the whole thing.

So it didn't hit the yellow pad which is what the ruling was on the field. Again, I'm just noting that there wasn't any conclusive evidence in that article.

Re: holiday never touched home proff...

As someone else pointed out in either this forum or another.......it appeared the pad was sagging down slightly......and had it been taught the ball would have struck it, instead it hit the spot of the sag which ended up being an exposed crossbar........and the result was the ball catapulting back onto the field.....

IMO it was a HR, and they got screwed.........

Does anyone remember if that guy scored or not ?

Re: holiday never touched home proff...

    Hey baseball fans,

I'm the guy (you knew that) who put together Matt Holliday never touched the plate. (how else would I have found you here.

Just some brief info about the site. I didn't see the play until late at night when I watched teh replay in Friday's in the Gaslamp. It was so obvious to me that he didn't touch. I expected the media to be all over this blown call but instead they buried it.

What concerned me most was that ESPN and others were saying that the replays were inconclusive and just glossing over the blown call.

I had a few days off and I thought that making a blog about the play would be a nice project to both get the message out that the call was indeed wrong and to help me learn how to use wordpress blogging software.

If you haven't visited the site yet, please do. I'm adding articles daily and posting new clips as well. Soon I'll have vids up with TIMECODES so that you can cite specific frames as well as frame caps up on Flickr.

To the critics that say I need to get a life, please understand that this is a short term project for me to try to establish once and forever that McClelland blew the call. That's my real goal. I have no position on who would have won, who was robbed, etc. I just want to make ESPN eat their words that the replays were inconclusive.

Did you know that ESPN aired two sets of replays? One with full view shots was on on Sportscenter following the game, but the next day they used fewer shots and heavily cropped the ones they did use.

visit my site to find out about it.

Hope you enjoy it and also realize that its just a fun project for me to tackle to stretch some mental muscles.
