I like this if it's true.
Barrett was a top offensive Catcher the last couple years and is a perfect example of someone who needs a change of scenery!

hes also the worst defensive catcher around too. he did need a change of scenery though and maybe that'll help defensively

Cant be much worse at throwing out runners than we already have.Also,gotta believe some of his defensive woes have to do with guys like Zambrano.
I think Barrett is also a close friend of Jakes......and Maddux played with him for a short time.I gotta believe these two were consulted about the guy before the deal was finalized.

He's got more pop than what we currently have, was a silver slugger what 2 years ago......and might just stop some of the running attack that has been launched against us.....since what we have sure hasn't slowed it down

he is a good friend of peavy, thats true. but maddux didnt strongly care for him and having Zman hasnt hurt Koyie Hill or Henry Blanco defensively.

Mixed reactions. It's a good trade for the Padres, they get the better end of the deal. But for my boy Bard, it's going to cut into his playing time! And the Pads pitching staff has been lights out this year, hopefully Barrett doesn't screw up chemistry too much. His bat is a welcome addition however! Bard needs to step it up!

Should've made this trade before the Cubs series.

Barrett would've beat the shit out of Zambrano after he ran out for the brawl.

The only thing that I do NOT like about this trade for the Padres is that Barrett is NOT known for his defensive expertise. He is an offensive catecher. And with the awesome pitching staff that the Padres are displaying this year, is this trade really going to help or hurt the Padres in the long run?


For the Padres skae, I hope it is a good move, I really like the way the team is playing this year. Built more for the short series in the play-offs, they would be a VERY dangerous team in the playoffs with their pitching.
