I'm guessing on the game 2 pitching match up.

Sportsline.com lists Tuesday as Maddux vs Kazmir and Wednesday as Jake vs Edwin Jackson, as does Tampa Bay's rotation that they've used. However, Padres.com and DevilRays.com lists Edwin starting Tuesday.

I'm guessing Tampa dicked with their rotation to match Kazmir up with Jake.

    I'll go W-W-L also.
While the D-Rays ARE in last place....they are only TWO games out of 2nd!
They have an extremely good young offense.....and something we have alot of trouble with--SPEED.
They've got 4-5 guys who will be on second everytime they get on base...and a couple who will be on third.
Alot of pressure for our Picthers.
I think it dependes on Maddog and if he's "on" whether we win.....or lose......the series!

Game 1: The crafty veteran is at it again....7 strong innings for Maddux...Padres win 5-1.

Game 2: Jake is dominant, takes a no hitter into the 7th. Trevor pickes up #501. Padres win 3-0.

Game 3: Germano struggles early, but keeps his team in the game. Trevor gets #502. Padres win 6-5.

    Re: Padres@Devil Rays 6/12/07-6/14/07

I'm calling the sweep. I think the Pads are going to be pissed off that they swept the Dodgers and then gave all three games right back. Historically they play better on the road too. If the matchup are as you have them listed, Maddux is way better than Jackson, I can't see Peavey having 3 poor outings in a row, and now that Germano has had his first loss handed to him, he will either bounce back, or fall apart, I am hoping for the former.

I have to say though in this last series, it is ironic because at one point I think in the first game Mud was talking about how good pitching always beats good hitting when they were showing the Mariners team avg at .304. To be quite honest I think that the Mariners proved my point, good hitting beats good pitching because they made the best bull pen in the majors look like chumps three games in a row. I thought I was going to be sick when they blew a 4 run lead in 3 innings in the second game and then did the same in the third. Uuugghhh.

Wait. One series proves your point when the Padres have been winning with no hitting all season long?

I guess the mlb.com sites had it wrong or Tampa changed their mind.

Either way, they're now listing Maddux/Kazmir tomorrow, Edwin Jackson vs Peavy on Wednesday.

    First post edited.

I respectfully disagree with you Jay. Look at the Yankees, they seem to have All-Stars at every position, and great hitters at that. But look at the teams that eliminated them since 2001. In order: Arizona, Anaheim, Florida, Boston, Anaheim, Detroit. Look at the pitching each team had, for example, Arizona had Randy Johnson and Curt Schilling, Florida had awesome pitching like Dontrelle Willis, Josh Beckett, Brad Penny.

If hitting beats good pitching, why haven't the Yankees won every World Series since 2000?

One base running blunder and MLB's worst fielder at third base...
