We are extremely lucky to still own a share of the Division lead after a four game losing streak! We have to right the ship NOW!
On the down side.....we could have stretched into a 4 game lead with a few wins!

Blum the DH I know whose getting a "-" from me today
Hiram has strep throat and Branyan and Sludge are left handed.
I still would've used Branyan, but at least I know what he was thinking.
(Not that I blame you for issuing the -)

Branyan's stats over the last two years are better than Blums when facing lefties......and this year Branyan has a cool .667 OBP facing lefties (yes in limited AB's) with 5 walks ( same # of hits Blum has ).....Blum plain f-ing sucks......Branyan also has the ability to hit the longball......If Blum ever hits one now it's a mistake......
So anyone........why again would Blum EVER get the start as a DH over Branyan ?
Like I said, I agree with you.
I just find moves, even moves I disagree with, a tad easier to swallow when I know what the guy was thinking.

I guess that's the problem for me HWood......I can't come up with even one reason why Blum was DH'ing over Branyan......
Branyan is the superior hitter vs. lefties between the two and that goes for their careers.....
Career stats vs. lefties, this is the production you can expect from these two
Branyan is hitting a HR every 14th AB for his career vs. Lefties......and driving in a run every 5th........
Blum is hitting a HR every 27th AB, and driving in a run every 8th......
To me that's pretty much the bottomline.....
Black's being short sighted and focusing on what side of the plate they bat from.
I don't like it....but I know what he was thinking.
I highly disagree with the reasoning....but I still know what the reasoning was.
See what I'm saying?
I've seen moves made where I don't even understand it at all, such as pinch hitting with Blum before anyone else in a crucial situation against a right handed pitcher, and those are the ones that really annoy me to no end.
Ones like this I just shake my head, but I still know what he was thinking.

No I don't........Black has been quoted saying lefty on lefty match ups are overrated when talking about our bullpen and starters.......so why is that any different when talking about hitters ?
Sounds a bit hypocritical to me

Exactly......I can't come up with any good reason for RB not to get every single DH'ing opportunity......not only that, but Blum is our best back up IFer should the need arise.....another reason not to use him as a DH when better choices are available
Sorry for the rant.......its just eating my ass today.......more so than last night when I saw the lineup
Kouz day to day with an injured back....injured while swinging
edit: AGon off the wall.......Cruz around from 1st to give the Padres a 3-0 lead late weeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Geoff "ducksnort" Blum with a hit......4-0 Padres
Blum makes it 4-0
Greene makes it 5-0
time to hold and head to Chicago
That was a nice way to respond to the sweep/embarrassing 1st game
