Actually, I think you guys are winning the division. Hopefully the dbacks finish ahead of the Todd Heltons.

I think it all lies in the success of the middle relief.. im not worried about the 7-8-9 at all because we have Linebrink, Otsuka and Hoffy to cover that.
But other than that, our Pen's depth doesn't look too hot.
I say if Adam Eaton turns it around and has a good season, along the the rise of Jake Peavy, we'll have a good shot at winning the division.
Production out of the no. 5 spot in the rotation is key as well, considedring we didn't win a single game after we dealt away Ismael Valdez from that position.
And.. the other question marks.. hitting. Giles, Klesko, Nevin.. they all need to step it up.
I think I can hear the cricketts chirpping in here.. haha.. you other Padre fans better join me soon! =(

As of now, middle relief is my biggest concern.
my concerns about this Padre team is probably
1. In between guys.. Otsuka, Linebrink, Hoffy.. great we got the 7-9 covered. but unforunately we're not gonna get into the 6th-7th inning from our starters every night, and those three can't pitch all the time.
Someone has to step up. And it won't be Blaine Neal (traded for sucking)
2. Rotation after Jake Peavy, Woody Williams.. Brian Lawrence is good, but he's nothing more than a no. 4 guy in my mind. Adam Eaton needs to tap that potential of his... if he can put together a good season, I think we can easily ride Peavy, Eaton, Williams, Lawrence to the playoffs... obviously the no. 5 hole comes in question as well.
3. production from the big bats. Nevin didn't have that bad of a season last year.. Klesko really turned it around in the second half.. and well Giles is.. Giles... I don't think there was any Padre fan that wasn't disappoitned with Giles performance last season...
I think those three are our biggest glaring weaknesses as of now.

Glad to see you got this up and running. I will probably be lurking about now and then, post once in a while but don't expect much as my knowledge has dwindled over the past few years and wasnt great to begin with. The Pads have always been my team though, growing up in Yuma, AZ I used to cut school to go see them during spring training. At a young age got a bat handed to me over the fence by Tony Gwynn, and loved them ever since.
