Since I don't have the info....does anyone know when the last time Maddux was on the DL for any length of time?

Easy answer. Never. Especially since you consider that:
- he has won 15 or more games in 18 of the last 19 seasons with the other season being a 13-win campaign
- he has 33 or more starts in every season since 1988, not including the two strike-shortened seasons which happened to be his most dominant seasons
Pretty much a lock for 33 starts and 15 wins.
That's an amazing stat on a guy his age, never to have been on the DL for ANY length of time for 3 different teams. I think that vodes well for the Padres and having him around the entire season, barring a freak injury (Todd Greene).

Voted for the Padres
MLB season can't come fast enough....I'm tired of hearing about Pacman Jones throwing around $80k and actually being surprised that someone picked it up, and for those who haven't seen the Sean Livingston injury on ESPN, here's your warning....TURN THE CHANNEL!!!

Pitching wins championships. The Padres will win the division with the Dodgers 2 games back and the Giants 7 games back.
I think it all matters which team will be more desperate and has the resources to "improve" to it's weakspots by mid-season. Are the Padres willing to dig into what is already a pretty weak prospect group to add to this team?
If Arizona is close near the end, they get my vote, they got lot of great young kids and a filled farm system that they can get solid players in return if need be by mid-season.
The Padres have proven 2 years straight that you don't need to make a huge splash in July to win the NL West.

Yeah... with 3 horrid teams in the west as well. You can't always rely that those clubs will be weak again. Arizona has improved, and Colorado should be better. God knows wtf San Fransico is going to do.... and Dodgers of course are right up there. Although, suprising our record against divisonal teams wasn't even that good, just barley over .500.
The Padres owned the Dodgers, iffy against Arizona, and sucked against San Fran and Colorado.
Anyways, as far as July goes, I'd have to wait and see before I determine if a move would be necessary.
The Cardinals proved last year (as a lot of other teams have in the past) that you don't always need to make a big move in July to win it all. Sure, it can help....sometimes it hurts. (Look what LA's big moves did for them two years ago.)

Sledge's hammy has to be a concern, but Cruz Jr. could step in and fill those shoes likely without us missing a beat.
Greene is a health issue, but it's his make or break year, so look for him to blast out of his shell.
Kouz to me isn't even a questionmark, he's such a vast improvement over what we've had there for years, that we'll all be very pleased even if he has just a solid year.
Everyone else usually stays pretty healthy......so we should be in pretty good shape....we're also pretty young overall, and unlike the Giants wont have to worry about father time sneaking up on us
