Well, yeah, but that wouldn't mean he has "40 HR power" anymore than Rowand had "20 HR power" despite the fact that Nevin hit 41 in 2001.

No I would say Nevin has 30 homerun power. Rowand has and can hit 20 homers and there's no denying that. Nevin's playing time has been jeopardized with injuries resulting in poor numbers. Nevin's likelihood of hitting 40 again is far worse than Rowand hitting an easy 20 homers. I get what you are saying but it just doesn't hold any much weight. Comparing a guy essenitally on the decline to a guy who is coming into his own. 16 homers for an average is right there man! One good season brings that up to 20 which he is very capable to do especially in the NL.
There is denying it.
You can't predict the future anymore than I can, yet you keep insisting that Rowand can hit 20 HRs like as though it's set in stone, despite the fact that he's only done so one time in his career....and he's no spring chicken.
And, for the record, I don't think it's impossible for Rowand to hit 20. I just don't think he's as much of a lock to do so as you seem to think he is.

He's done it before and hit 12 last year while only playing in 109 games so the likelihood is pretty high and considering his average is 16, it's hard to believe he can't. Linedrive hitters hit homeruns.
I just don't see how it's such a lock for a guy who's going to turn 30 this season, who's only hit >20 HRs once in his career, and was only on pace to hit 17 last year, to hit 20.
It's feesable, but it's far from a lock.

30 is most players prime for christ's sake. A lock? Nope but its more than likely to happen since it has happened in one of the three seasons he played fulltime. And 16 homers for an average is not far from a lock especially in the NL East where pitching is looking pretty weak this year. He could have easily hit more than 20 last year if he didn't get hurt.
30 is a prime when he's been playing for years already.....otherwise it's not....
30 is a prime in pretty much all of life, not just sports but he has been in the Majors for 6 seasons and keeps getting better, at least defensively. So yeah 30 is a players prime.
Are we still talking about Sledge here.....??
If so.....he ran into 3 players last year while playing defense....exactly how is that getting better? He damn near crippled 3 guys....huge upgrade for sure....good call

Why would I waste anymore energy on Sledge?
got cha........didn't sound right so I figured I'd ask....
With that said, do you think Rowand can "easily" hit 20 home runs? At PetCo?

I don't know how you Padre fans feel about this trade, but I like this move. I know pitching is important, but Rowand is a go-and get it type CFer! Rowand would be a nice addition to your team as a top-level,caliber CFer and really improve your defense, which as we all know, pitchers really love!
