Gotta love "Tons of Fun", another hitter that proved you didn't have to hit the ball out of the park every at bat to be a huge contributor to your team. Congrats to Tony on his Hall of Fame induction.
"They asked me if I wanted the ball in Game 6, and I said yes. I'll always say yes. That's what I did with Jack McKeon. I told him, 'Let me see how I feel tomorrow.' I went out, did a long toss, came in and said, 'I'll pitch, I want it, I want to do it.' And it ended up working out." -Josh Beckett

Not only was he a blast to watch play the game, but he had incredible knowledge of it as well!!!! A true student of the game. Both with his skills and opponents. He also knew the strategy of the game!

Congrats!!!! Very well deserved award for him. Wish he could of gotten a ring as well. Him.

aside from the douchebag that left his entire ballot blank.....I would love to know who the other people were that didn't think Ripken and Gwynn shouldn't get in.....

I listened to Jayson Stark this morning and he said there were a few writers who left Ripken and Gwynn off their ballot because they knew therse guys were locks. They voted for guys who they thought should get in knowing it would be harder for them. Guys like Gossage and Rice. I think Gwynn will make a good manager one day.

Man, I hate that. If everyone applied that same logic, Gwynn and Ripken would get 0 votes!!

Then again, I'm guilty of using the same logic concerning political elections. "Eh, what's one more vote for _______, he'll win in a landslide anyways."

I can see where they are coming from. Who cares about having the highest vote percentage? No one. If I knew Gwynn and Ripken were locks, I would vote for guys who are worthy of going to the HOF such as Gossage, Rice and Dawson.

I was listening to Dan Patrick on ESPN radio and he had RIck Riley from SI, and he stated that is is ridiculous that the voters can't make a decision within 15 years. IMO, if they deserve to be in the H.O.F. then elct them and quick using this "so-called" authority or power and just vote them in. Get over yourselfs. The H.O.F. should have a board or something that does it anyways. It shouldn't be the media anyways in my opinion! If I was a voter, then I would vote for the legit players and be done with it.

I completely agree, the media treats this like a rookie police officer does when he first gets his badge, let's the authority go to his head.

Why can't you vote for Gossage, Rice, Dawson, AND Ripken and Gwynn?

Are they limited in the number of players they can vote for?
