Jake Peavy arrested
San Diego Padres pitcher and Mobile native Jake Peavy was arrested this morning at the Mobile Regional Airport and charged with disorderly conduct, police said.
Peavy, whose address was listed in Semmes, was taken to the Mobile County Metro Jail shortly before 7 a.m. and was released on a $350 bond, according to the jail log.
Airport Police Chief James Kincaid would not say what led to Peavy’s arrest, only that “a situation presented itself and the officers involved felt like they had a situation to deal with.”
Kincaid said the incident occurred at about 5:20 a.m. just outside the terminal building and that it was not aviation-related. Kincaid said he believed Peavy was at the west Mobile airport to take an early departing flight.
No one was injured in the incident, he said.
Peavy, 25, was a star pitcher at St. Paul’s Episcopal school in Mobile, posting a 44-1 record in four seasons. He was set to pitch with Auburn University out of high school before signing with the Padres organization.
