    Padres Hoffman reaches 400 saves

Hoffy is number three on the list behind John Franco(424) and Lee Smith (478). Anyone think he will reach Franco or Smith?

he'll definitely reach Franco, I have no doubt Trevor can notch up 24 more saves. Lee Smith will take at least the rest of this year, next year, and into 2007 so that one would be tough...but still plausible.

I'd LOVE to see Trevor get 40 this year, 34 next year, and 33 in 2007.... 500!

but that'd take some conditioning on his part, he'll be 39 in 2007

too bad thought this save wasnts at home, i mean even though im not a Padres fan, I love the Padres modo/slogan for Hoffman "Trevor Time" Hells Bells" dong- dong

that would have been a VERY happy crown had it been at Petco Park

    Congrats to Trevor.

He has had a fine career.

He is a HOF player IMO.

Yes congrats to Hoffman. It couldn't have happened to a better guy. Unfortunately I don't see him breaking Lee Smith's record. I wouldn't mind him doing so but his stuff ,though effective, is declining and will be 38 in Oct. It will be cool to see as long as it isn't against the Giants.

Reefer......I agree with you for the most part, however Hoffy doesn't rely on the fastball as much as most closers, and the change up is more effective as your arm tires, so that alone will extend his career a couple extra years.......I just don't want him lingering when the day comes that he can't get people out.

Yeah, I'm thinking he's going to get by Franco, but not Smith...

    That's a long way to go(Smith is).
