What happened to Lawrence?...Clint Hurdle said something about him not being in "tiptop" shape.

I did a lot of good things as a sim league GM.
Ah, give me something clever to say here.
Nice article on Kouzmanoff ....he's excited, and happy to be coming home.....I wasn't aware that he was born in NewPort Beach and moved to San Diego at age of 2.....played in the same south bay league as AGon only a couple years before him.....this is going to be the guy for us...I can feel it...

Moved the Rowand debate to its own thread.

What's Mark Prior's current situation ? I heard the knuckleheads on 1090 talking about the Padres making a run to get him possibly....is this true or is this just media BS ??
I think it's just a name being thrown out there, I don't think it's anyone the Padres would take a shot at, isn't he still under contract with the Cubs? If he stays healthy, IF, he can be a great addition to any rotation, but the Padres already have their rotation filled out. Unless Prior would become a guy out of the bullpen, I can't see how the Padres would be serious about him.

signed Andy Mazer (sp?) as our broadcast replacement
I heard Too Much Show's interview with Andy this afternoon. I think he's going to be a really good addition to the broadcast and I can't wait to hear him during Spring Training.
On another front, just a name to throw out there and one that I think could be cheap and a doubles maching at Petco Park.....Bernie Williams. Yes, he wants to be a Yankee, but it just doesn't seem like they're going to offer him a guarunteed spot on the roster. Bernie has been a doubles hitter in NY and I think he could do very well with the Padres, not a starter, but still a damn good bat off the bench.

I wouldn't mind Bernie off the bench.

If I'm KT, I talk to Bernie about coming to Spring Training and going up against Termell for the starting job in left field. I think you offer him a incentive laden contract and let him know that he's probably going to get a spot start here and there but mostly be a role player, see how he responds to that.

from the Marin Independent Journal.com:
February 10, 2007
Around the Bases:
- Tyler Walker, who grew up in Ross, is a non-roster invitee to the Giants spring training camp. Jesse Foppert, a standout at San Rafael High, is a non-roster invitee to the Seattle Mariners spring training camp. But the most impressive spring training non-roster invitee from Marin will be Will Venable. The 24-year-old left-handed hitting outfielder from San Rafael has been invited to San Diego Padres major league training camp this spring. He was the Padres' minor league player of the year last season when he hit .314 with 91 RBIs at Single-A Fort Wayne (Ind.) then led the Hawaii Winter League in batting with a .330 average.
Single A Fort Wayne to non roster invitee at ST, not too shabby.
I doubt he'll get a spot but it's good to see him succeeding.
Might be ready by next year.

I have to admit, I don't know much about him, but I guess we'll see how he does in Spring Training....
