Thanks Linebrink!
Thanks Linebrink!
Linestink shoud pitch only in blowouts or in the bullpen
Linebrink's actually been pretty reliable as of late...until last night.
I still think he should have his role diminished, but not to the point of being reduced to only coming in during blowouts. He's still better than Embree, Adkins, and Cassidy to name a few.

He's been shaky in just about every outting.....he may have gotten though the inning, but now without puckering some buttholes first.......last night he cost us the game.......unless you want to blame bochy for pulling CY instead
10-8 Rocks...... 7 run inning........go Rockies !!!
if by "shaky" you mean he's let a few runners get on base before getting out of the inning without giving up any runs....I suppose we should relegate Trevor to mop up duty as well?Originally Posted by padrefanforever

Trevor has had some damn shaky outtings as well......but we're not talking about him are we ?
Face it........Linebrink has sucked this year........the whole year he's been awful....I wish stat geeks kept track of blown holds....it sure seems like something that they should start tracking to know just how good or bad guys are doing....
if I'm not mistaken, "blown holds" are counted as part of blown saves.
You have to finish the game to get a save, but you don't have to finish the game to blow a save (example: you give up the tying run in the 8th inning)
That being said, Linebrink has 34 holds this year, 2 saves, and 9 blown saves, as well as 7 wins and 4 losses.
No you are correct.........but IMO there should be a seperate stat in order to keep track of mid relief......a save is a save........a blown hold is a blown hold etc......
No, but I was using him to make an example.Originally Posted by padrefanforever

No, it wouldn't have. That's the whole point of making an analogy, you find something the person you're debating with obviously wouldn't agree with...yet the situation is similar to what he's currently arguing...and by pointing out that similarity you hopefully get him to think about his current viewpoint.
Trevor routinely allows a base runner or two before closing out the game, yet he is (rightfully) applauded for getting out of the inning without giving up a run.
Scotty does the same thing and you blow off his good performances (as of late...notice I didn't say "all year") by stating he's "been shaky"

Hollywood.........if Linebrinks yearly #'s looked like Trevors this year this conversation wouldn't be happening.....but they aren't....in fact they are pretty bad and he's been terrible for the majority of the year....he's cost us leads and games and that's not his job.....if you remember
And, again, I said "As of late" not all year.Originally Posted by padrefanforever
Furthermore, he's still better than other options in the pen.
If he did what he's done coming in in the 6th or 7th we would've cursed him on and off, but we wouldn't be suggesting he go to blow out games.
He was lights out as the 7th inning guy two years straight, we moved him to the 8th and this.
I say we give Scotty the 7th back and give Cla the 8th.

I agree......get him out of the 8th spot.......he's done a less than satisfacory job this year IMO....and it kills me to see Bochy keep running him out there with his gascan
