it doesn't matter anyways because it would also be a dumb move for the Padres to make.

Khalil Greene is a great defensive shortstop who has a good bat, but that's not really the reason it'd be stupid.

It'd be stupid because there's too many fair weather/casual Padre fans out there who have already fallen in love with Khalil Greene due to his flashy glove and would call for KT's head even if he traded him for Albert Puljos.

This, albeit misguided, viewpoint would lead to a drop off in ticket sales, which would lead to a drop off in income, which would lead to a drop off in payroll, which would lead to a drop off in pleased fans.

(and yes, the Puljos remark was a bit of an exageration.)

I made the mistake of not fully reading your post and deleted my response.

I don't make that mistake too often, I apologize.

    - He's a Rangers guy, not Pirates

This is his fourth season; he will now become a free agent, I am almost absolutely positive. Either that or the people at the UT boards are wrong, btu I don't think so since I've heard os many talks about Hall trades since he didn't resign the extension earlier (the Padres were trying to trade for him prior to the seasons beginning).

Not insulting anybody, just the truth. He understands that this argument was never about defense, yet he responds with SFU fragments and no definitive explinations which I think are meant to simply annoy me until I stop responding. So, he won.

4th season doesn't mean he'll be a FA. Its 6 seasons, from MLB:

A: A player with six or more years of Major League service who has not executed a contract for the next season is eligible to become a free agent.

That does not mean you must have 6 years of service until you can make decent money. It's however long his contract was originally intended for, I think.

For the record, if you guys are right about him not becoming a free agent at year's end, then I totally agree that this entire thread is pointless and that it would be stupid for the Brewers to trade him.

He's eligible for arbitration, meaning, he's still Padres' property.

I should note, I was somewhat wrong, I think the service time is partially updated for this year, as the site has the extension for Josh Beckett on there and service time for Sox rookies this year

admit it, you were just trying to leave your mark on the forums by trying to get love_that_reefer to add another name to his sig.

Yes, he is a free agent next year, at least as of what Fishercat's link says: http://mlbcontracts.blogspot.com/200...e-brewers.html
