Walker's a definite upgrade over what we had at third in terms of offense.

It's only a tad dissapointing because we could've had a younger, more long term option and because he hasn't played 3rd base in quite awhile.

I don't neccesarily agree with him being THE move, but it's still an upgrade IMHO

Giles = OBP machine; GREAT number two hitter.
Cameron = CLUTCH; speed and power, walks.
Piazza: Has been absolutely tremendous for us; hovering around .900 OPS consistently.
    Gonzo: Team MVP, perhaps.
Greene: One of the best offensive shortstops in baseball.
Walker: COnsistently solid, OBP is great, CLUTCH.
Barfield: Perhaps one of the top five number 8 hitters in baseball.

Thef act that Barfield, .300 hitter, is our number 8 hitter says something. This team can produce runs with or without the help of a big bat. Our pitching is also solid, remaining in the upper echelon of baseball even when performing poorly at home. Ths is a playoff caliber team any way you look at it.

I like the on paper POTENTIAL of our lineup.....but we're currently ranked 13 out of 16 in the NL for runs scored.....fact is our line up doesn't produce, so we can probably leave "clutch" out of this...

We're also ranked 13 out of 16 in HR's, so please don't try to sell the fact I'm underestimating our lineups needs....they are abundantly clear.....and have yet to be addressed...

We're 7th in hits, 9th in doubles & 9th in BA..... This isn't a game played on paper, if it were, we'd be in great shape....but it's not, and the facts are we need offensive help still....and I'm not underestimating what our lineup actually does at all...

You know what's truly sad........that a guy that hasn't played 3rd base in a decade is an upgrade over what we have on our team or ready to go on the farm.... No that's pathetic ....

I didn't say he was a defensive upgrade.

Carlos Lee would've been a bigger upgrade at third, but would've been a bigger defensive liability.

Although it is equally sad that we have to play someone out of position because we don't have someone ready at AAA.

KT has never been the best drafter, and thankfully he's not in charge of that anymore.

Look man.......if Walker was a guy that was going to crush the ball, I'm all for it........but he's not........he's not an RBI guy, he's not a .300 hitter, and he's not a 3bag....

What about this is ok ?

he's a consistant hitter who does well in the clutch.

I'm already on record as stating he's not my first choice (or even my 2nd, 3rd, or whatever)

I'm also on record as stating that i'm not happy with the declining of the Betimit-Linebrink proposal

All I'm saying is that Walker, even while playing out of position, is better than Bellhorn, Blum, or even Vinny at third base.

When did Mike Cameron become known for his walks and being clutch?

he's been pretty clutch all year.

I don't know where the walks monicker came in, however.

I have no idea.......he's an all or nothing hitter.......always has been, unless Merv waves a magic wand, it's what I'd expect him to always be.....
