we just lost to Livan Hernandez the Nat.......he completely shut this offense down....ugh....now he's playing for an NLWest team that we haven't been able to beat since they came into the league....double ugh !!!
It appears to me Brian Giles hit a 2 run home run off Livan Hernandez, while Jake Peavy only gave up one run.
We beat Livan Hernandez.

Ugh, the Expos just had to send El Nino back to a hated NL West team. The Diamondbacks are like a cockroach that can't be killed. Even without Schilling and Johnson they are still in playoff races.
Ugh....sorry it was my b-day weekend, the whole thing is a blur.....why I'm even debating it is a mystery to me......Originally Posted by HollywoodLeo
Big deal. Livan is a glorified BLaw with marginally better success.

Maybe better days ahead?San Diego Union-Tribune: " The Padres are looking for a third baseman who can hold the job for at least a few years. They are still tracking Astros slugger Morgan Ensberg and likely will revisit those trade talks."
The way Sandy Alderson and Kevin Towers are talking, it looks as if Todd Walker is the ONLY move the Padres are going to make the rest of the season. Don't get me wrong, I would love to have Morgan Ensberg in a Padre uniform, I just don't see Houston trading him.

If Walker is our only move this year, and our solution to shore up 3rd, then I wont have to worry about buying my playoff tixs, because I truly don't believe this team will be there....Not with how well the Dodgers are playing, minus two key bats....
We needed an arm and 3bag...without both we're in serious trouble IMO
Of course, I felt the same way this time last year (in regards to playoff chances)

I dont know. Houston still considers themselves contenders and don't appear to be willing to give up any of their bats.Originally Posted by love_that_reefer

I'd rather have an "emberassing" post season showing than no post season at all.Originally Posted by padrefanforever

I believe you're underestimating our lineup without the big bat of a quality third in Ensberg or such at third'. Let's take a look:Originally Posted by padrefanforever

Cameron = CLUTCH; speed and power, walks.
Piazza: Has been absolutely tremendous for us; hovering around .900 OPS consistently.
Gonzo: Team MVP, perhaps.
Greene: One of the best offensive shortstops in baseball.
Walker: COnsistently solid, OBP is great, CLUTCH.
Barfield: Perhaps one of the top five number 8 hitters in baseball.
Thef act that Barfield, .300 hitter, is our number 8 hitter says something. This team can produce runs with or without the help of a big bat. Our pitching is also solid, remaining in the upper echelon of baseball even when performing poorly at home. Ths is a playoff caliber team any way you look at it.
