Jake has his A stuff tonight.....with exception to the Inside the Park HR, Jake has pitched very very well tonight. The only thing I'm disappointed in is, the Padres have only given him 2 runs to work with.

Wow. You have got to be kidding me. Julio Franco with an opposite field 2-run pinch-hit HR off Linebrink to put the Mets on top 3-2 in the 8th inning. Blown save for Linebrink, no win for Peavy.
Delgado with a 2-run HR off Embree. I thought Delgado was not supposed to hit lefties well. 6-2 ballgame, we won't even see Billy Wagner now.
Why is Jake the only Padre pitcher that NEVER gets the run support he needs. One time I want this team to give him 5-6 runs to work with. He deserves better than this.......
Not possible........this ballpark is too big and not hitter friendly........lol.....that was a pop up HR.......short ass RF porch.......sure makes the whining done by Klesko and Nevin look pathetic doesn't it ?Originally Posted by DirtyKash

we've been through this before.
And yes, the Padres were (and probably still are) lacking in power as compared to other teams....but that doesn't make the stadium's suppresion of HRs any less valid, it just makes it worse on the already powerless hitters.

who would we trade them for? We'd only get someone else of equal value in return....someone else we'd be begging to be releasedOriginally Posted by FmrFresnan

You can at least get prospects for them, I know you're not going to get a top level guy, but at least try to go after some top prospects.
you won't get top prospects for them either.
At most you'll get some 25 year old prospect who used to be highly touted, but he's been in the system for a few years and hasn't been impressing anyone with his lackluster play, so they give up on him and trade him for Doug Mirabelli cuz they need a back up catcher.

What would you propose we do with them? I don't want to see Bellhorn going up there and striking out every time he pinch hits....
I propose they send Bellhorn to AAA or release him, unless they can get what I alluded to for him, because taking a chance on that fringe prospect I described would be better than watching Bellhorn strike out everytime.
I don't mind Doug all too much, he's only a back up and he's been injured.
Although if Rob Bowen keeps hitting the way he has in his limited action i'd probably trade Doug. We wouldn't get too much, but I imagine we can get something for him from a team in need of a back up catcher.
