Rules Write-Up:
Sign-Up Dates
-The game will be kept open for signups until July 31st, or the trading deadline.
-Sign up in the designated sign-up topic. If you are new to the forums, you will be awarded 1000 S3F Cash when you post in that topic and your game will start.
In-Game Rules: S3F Cash
-You will receive a starting stake of 1000 S3F Cash to use in any way you like in this contest
-You may bet as many or a few dollars as you like in a given week.
-If you bankrupt, you will have a chance to re-start if you like. However, you will only get three re-starts throughout the regular season. If you bankrupt a total of three times, you are busted and are eliminated.
After First Bankrupt: Re-start with 750 S3F Cash (Added 4/5)
After Second Bankrupt: Re-start with 500 S3F Cash
After Third Bankrupt: Re-start with 100 S3F Cash
-If you prefer, you may declare yourself bankrupt at any point where you below where the re-start point is. If so, you will be moved to the standard re-start point and a bankrupt will be assessed to your record. This could be useful if you have a low amount of S3F Cash and don’t want to waste a week. A forced bankrupt will occur only when you have 0 S3F Cash
-S3F Cash is the determinant of the leaders and winners: the more the better.
In-Game Rules: Divisions and Duration
-Users will be separated into 4-6 person divisions depending on signups. The divisions will be randomized by Opening Day.
-There will be a total of 4-8 playoff teams, and how those will be determined will be shown later on. For instance, if we get 16 users, we will have four divisions of four. Each division leader gets through, and possibly two to four wild-cards. Less users = less playoff teams. However, if we get a LOT of interest, there's going to be more playoff teams.
-Divisions CAN be re-arranged if there are too many strong teams in one division. In the end, I want the four-eight strongest bettors in the playoffs, but I don’t want to rig it, obviously. They will likely be arranged at two major points (maybe June 1 and August 1) to give a generally even division level. I MAY (no guarantees) make one-time or two-time offers to pay x amount of vCash to move to another division, so a bigger bettor can sacrifice money to move to a weaker division.
-The season runs from Opening Day until the Playoff Season. When the last day of the season ends, x amount of playoff teams make it to a head-to-head betting battle, with either even cash or weighted amounts, most likely even cash
-Note: Divisions will be altered as need be if there an influx of new contestants. I don't want players who join in July who have 5000 S3F cash to get into the playoffs on a division bid when a person who has 13000 S3F Cash is left out due to a tough division
The Bets
There will be 5-10 bets in an average week, with more in weeks such as the All-Star Break and Trading Deadline
Usual Bets
-Game Bets (Random matchups or good pitching contests. Will contain standard money lines, over/unders, and single-game stat matchups).
-Series Bets (including who wins the series, most HR in the series, run differential, etc.)
-Player Bets (A focus player (maybe he had a great prior week or a horrid one, returning from injury, etc.) will get bets on how he performs)
-Fantasy Bets (I’ll give you two fantasy teams in a H2H matchup in a league of mine, and have a prediction on winners, and margin of victory).
-High Roller Bets (Huge odds on rare events at key season points to get cellar dwellers back into the race).
-Situational Bets (A chance to pay money to move divisions, a unique bet for an individual user, the ability to make up a bet for the next week for everyone, forcing everyone to bet x dollars on a certain game, etc.)
-Fun Bets (Sometimes, I’ll throw a baseball-related pop culture bet in there, to be determined on how it’s used. I may throw in a rare bet on a different sport).
Control of Bets
-Only Administrators have control over bet making, and unless the contest busts or when it ends, it will stay that way to keep the game legitimate. I will run this game primarily and anyone can give me suggestions, no matter the level. If I lose internet access or get overwhelmed, then I'll ask another admin to take over or I'll delay the contest for a week.
-I will either use posted gambling odds (from a website or otherwise) or I will make up my own odds (almost always). I would like people to have a good shot at winning, so I may leave some loophole bets up there or some bets where the odds are very good on one team.
Prizes
-There are no official designations for prizes and I’m not willing to give out concrete info yet. In the area could be a magazine subscription, baseball cap, video game, and so on. However, more participation would likely result in a bigger prize pool in either size or quality and may result in some extra seed cash to begin the game with if the recruit gives a specific user credit.
