Blame Jack McKeon for allowing that to happen. The fact remains that he gave up two ER in that inning to blow a 2-0 lead. Those Runs were counted toward his ERA. That's simply the way it is.

If that's exactly what happened, then you are incorrect; Jones would have gotten the loss if Willis only gave up 2 earned runs...meaning it was 2 - 2 as far as him being on the hook. That is a called a no decision my friend.Originally Posted by CincyRedsFan30

Dontrelle gave up three runs. Two of those Runs were Earned. He got the loss by virtue of the three Runs he gave up.
Exactly what I said is correct. He gave up two ER and got the loss.
Period.

He left the runners on base..Todd Jones did the giving up part.

He gave up two EARNED Runs. I think some are struggling with grasping the concept of Earned Runs. He allowed runners to reach base and was charged with Earned Runs when they scored. He had a high WHIP that inning and that's never a good thing, so I am totally in agreement with a pitcher being charged with Earned Runs when they allow runners to reach base prior to exiting a game. He allowed baserunners, gave up ER and recorded a loss. I would call that blowing a game. The stats. continue to agree with my assessment of the situation.Originally Posted by General

Nothing was incorrect. It's not my fault that you didn't research the subject at hand well. I made the following truthful statement:Originally Posted by Providence A's

Willis gave up two Earned Runs and got the loss. That's a simple fact. One of the Runs was unearned, but it was charged to him. What I said was true. You just didn't research the reasoning behind my truthful statement.
Some need to stop ignoring the truth and facts.

you left out that he gave up an unearned run. I said I was going by what you had said. I didn't care to "research" it...I trusted that all the info was there, but whatever.
It's not my job to divulge that information. Willis did give up two Earned Runs in the process of receiving a Loss.

I didn't say it was your job! I just said I was going by the info presented, which ended up being incomplete I need a beer

Willis is being disqualified from the Cy Young because of what happened in ONE INNING the entire baseball season? When Clemens makes a start, he doesn't even GET to the 9th inning. Jack McKeon would be pulling Clemens after 6. And THEN you can bring in Todd Jones to lose (blow) the game anyways. Geez.
WOW! What a chicken!!!!! How can you sleep at night? Easiest question in the world and you won't answer. How hilarious!
Peter Gammons gave the same award picks as I did. That is a scary thought but he has a vote in what goes on. He picked Pujols MVP, Tavares ROY and either Carp or Willis for CY. Like I said earlier, it comes down to their last two starts.
I disagree with Gammons the Cy. I am glad I disagree with him. That makes me even more confident that I'm right considering how clueless that guy is. He is ignoring the facts as usual. Clemens has the best meaningful stats. in MLB. Period.
