finally that stiff lloyd mclendon got fired! i just wonder who will replace him, maybe art howe.

Pirates fired manager Lloyd McClendon; named bench coach Pete Mackanin interim manager for the rest of the season.
It's overdue for certain, but at least this qualifies as progress. The Pirates appeared to be leaning toward bringing McClendon back at midseason, but things have gone south since June and the club has currently lost nine of 10. It's not expected that Mackanin will keep the job into 2006.

You know, I have been jumping for joy ever since I heard. This is a great day in Pirates baseball and long overdue. This gives me, as a Pirates fan, some hope for 2006.

Of course it won't accomplish anything. 13 straight losing seasons is for a reason. Not Lloyd's fault and I wish him the best. Baseball Tonight said watch for Leyland.

dang i am going to the reds vs. pirates on saturday....i wanted to see lloyd run out and argue with the umps...o well maybe a better season is to come without him.
