Carpenter goes for 22 tonight against Ian Snell...no reason for excitement for this one. Hopefully Snell can go at least 6 though.

Carpenter blows a 4 run lead, but the Cards still win 5-4. Rick White took the loss, Brad Thompson got the win.

    *sigh*

3 hits for Doumit(including a homer), 2 hits for JWilson(In 2 AB) and Freddy Sanchez. Another RBI for Ty Wigginton...

Man, why isn't he playing every day?

Furmaniak made his major league debut going 1-4 with a run scored and a double.

Oh yeah, Snell only worked 4. @$&!)&*($&)*!&()

5-3 win for the Pirates this afternoon.

2 solo homers for Brad Eldred, a homer and a double for Jason Bay and an RBI double for Tike Redman. 2 hits for Mackowiak, Eldred, Bay and Tike.

Oliver Perez worked 1 2/3 before being ejected for hitting Hector Luna(!) with a pitch. Okay, Oliver. If you're going to get ejected at least throw at Pujols! He had freaking John Gall hitting behind him today!

Gonzalez picked up the save, as Mesa worked a perfect seventh.

Double header tonight, as we peak into the weekend starters...

    Friday, Game 1 Ramon Ortiz(9-10, 5.06) v. Kip Wells(7-16, 4.85)
    Friday, Game 2 Brandon Claussen(9-9, 4.11) v. Zach Duke(6-0, 1.81)
    Saturday Aaron Harang(10-12, 3.54) v. Paul Maholm(1-0, 1.71)
    Sunday Eric Milton(7-15, 6.55) v. Ian Snell(0-2, 6.83)

This is the best chance we've had to win a series in a while. Snell is better than Milton, so hopefully we'll win on Sunday, and I could see a sweep of the double header tonight. I may head on down tomorrow and see Maholm pitch again.

Yeah, the low innings are starting to make me sick. I'd like see at least 5 IP from the starters 5 out of every 6 games. I can't even get that.

Another start for Snell tonight, this time against Roger Clemens. Hopefully the O can put some runs on him like they did Carp, but I doubt it.

Even after last night, I still like Snell better in relief for the long term. I'd love to see him pitching in the 6th-7th next year, and maybe the 8th in a couple more.

And even JJ had a web gem...everybody stepped it up last night.
