(I refuse to talk about Pedro, in fear of jinxing him. It's bad enough I had to pick him up on some fantasy teams.)
So, anyway, Nate McLouth scored a run last night. First one since he was traded to Atlanta, right?
The Pirates season thus far...:
v. PHI(2-1)
@ LAD(0-3)
@ SF(1-2)
@ ARI(2-1)
v. STL(1-2)
v. COL(2-1)
@ ATL(2-2)
@ STL(1-2)
v. CIN(1-2)
It puts the Pirates in 5th place, 5 out of first.
We just happened to hit the Cards as their bats woke up, and the Reds threw two dominant performances up against us.(Cueto-FRI, Latos-SUN). Hopefully we'll put everything together and make a run at it like we did last year. Too many 1-2 records on that list, when last year at this time, they were 2-1.
A rare home rest day on Monday, followed up by home serieses, 3 with the fighting Bryce Harpers, and a sweepable series against 3rd place Houston.
ROD! Pirates walk off the Natinals. A Barajas blast! Whoo!
A good win against a good team.
I could watch him turn around that 99MPH fastball on repeat for a very long time. Awesome.
Another good win with McCutchen playing like a MVP ever since having the flu. Hanrahan came back strong after his grandma's death. Pirates still aren't scoring a lot but they're squeezing out wins and just a game under .500
Yeah, it was a great spot start from Brad Lincoln. I figure he'll get a full time shot before the end of the season to see what we have, at least.
The Clint Hurdle batting order took a turn for the worse, though, last night, with Alex Presley hitting 6th. I know he rarely hits in to double plays or anything, but man, he's a rally killer with his weak pop outs.
Andrew McCutchen leads the way as AJ Burnett and the Buccos come back from 'The Justin Verlander' expirience with a 4-3 win Saturday.
All four runs came on a pair of two run jacks by Cutch. Going into the game, Burnett had a 1.86 ERA this season(if you take out the second STL game.), and he pitched okay(not really good or anything, but good enough to win.)
Hanrahan struck out Fielder for the final out. And got props from both Prince(he said "Nice..." as he walked away) and Miguel Cabrera(who was on first base).
More signs that they are losing patience with Barmes? The Pirates have acquired infielder Drew Sutton from the Braves in exchange for cash considerations, tweets Rob Biertempfel of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. Sutton, 28, owns a .258/.322/.403 slash line in 178 big league plate appearances.
The utility man signed a minor league contract with Atlanta in November. Sutton was hitting .267/.373/.363 in 37 games for Triple-A Gwinnett this season. He'll be assigned to Triple-A Indianapolis, and Biertempfel tweets that he expects the club to make a corresponding move.
Unlikely. Indy isn't hitting at all right now, and he's supposedly being picked up as a utility guy for down there.
If they were losing patience with Barmes, Harrison would be playing there more(as opposed to playing 2B-3B-SS-LF-RF-DH in the clubs last 6 games.), I would guess.
Sutton was traded to the Rays for a PTBNL
Before last night, the Pirates were 0-160 when down 4 runs in a game.
The Fort ends history!
McLouth was DFA's and Hague was called up. Maybe he can help at 1B.
Not sure about the use of McLouth(starting in left over Pres against lefties and pinch hitting), but he just looks like he has nothing left.
