3/5 of the Pirates rotation (Correia, Maholm, Morton) got hit hard by the injury bug so the Pirates will have to make some decisions this offseason, most notably picking up Maholm's option. I can't any reason why they would but they might have been suckered in by his strong first half. They should spend that $10 million more wisely.Charlie Morton underwent surgery Monday to repair a torn labrum in his left hip.
Morton is expected to be sidelined for six months, which could put him at risk for missing the start of the 2012 season. The 27-year-old right-hander went 10-10 with a 3.83 ERA and 110/77 K/BB ratio over 29 starts with the Pirates this season and will be arbitration-eligible for the first time this winter.
