Yikes! In 18.1 innings this spring, Correia has given up 27 hits and 13 runs though he has struck out 15. Maholm, Olendorf, Morton and McDonald will follow Correia. I will admit, it does look better than last year's rotation. The Pirates have named Kevin Correia their Opening Day starter against the Cubs.
It's probably not a good sign when Correia is your Opening Day starter. The 30-year-old right-hander scored a two-year, $8 million contract with the Pirates this offseason after posting a 5.40 ERA and 1.49 WHIP over 145 innings with the Padres last season. We're not any more optimistic about him now that he's outside of PETCO Park.
