Craig Monroe hit three homers in today's game and has homered in three straight games giving him six for the spring. Monroe was signed on a minor league deal and is battling Eric Hinske for a spot on the bench. Monroe contributes his success to tweaking his swing and working with Rangers hitting coach Rudy Jaramillo this offseason. Jaramillo is one of the best in the game. Monroe has 112 HRs in six seasons so he can mash when called on. Monroe's chances of making the team are good if he keeps this up. Pirates might have found them a diamond in the rough. Now they just need to find 10 more diamonds or one big blood diamond.
