Always good to see Burnett pitching well and staying healthy(knock on wood), hopefully he can join JVB and Bullington for a good season in Triple A and maybe get a shot when/if Armas gets hurt/falters.Sean Burnett threw four scoreless innings and struck out four Thursday in relief against the Reds.
That's practically more batters than he struck out in Triple-A throughout all of 2006. Of course, he never got to face Adam Dunn or Mark Bellhorn in Triple-A. Burnett has allowed just an unearned run in seven innings this spring. It won't earn him a roster spot out of spring training, but it he keeps it going at Indianapolis, he won't be stuck in the minors for another entire season.
Nice outing for Chacon, and I still think he's the better bet between he and Armas for the upcoming season, but if we can get something for him(anything, since the job is pretty much being handed to Armas) it would probably be for the best.Shawn Chacon scattered five hits while holding the Reds to one run over 3 2/3 innings on Thursday night.
Tony Armas Jr. is probably going to be the Pirates' fifth starter, but Chacon is trying to show he belongs in some team's rotation with a 3.12 ERA this spring. The Pirates might be able to trade him despite his $3.8 million salary.
