Phillies declined RHP Brad Lidge's $12.5 million option for 2012.
An easy call. Lidge will receive a $1.5 million buyout and test free agency, though the Phillies have expressed interest in re-signing him. The 34-year-old right-hander didn't make his season debut until late-July due to arm problems, but posted a 1.40 ERA and 23/13 K/BB ratio over 19 1/3 innings. It will be interesting to see if a team gives him another chance to close.
Phillies declined RHP Roy Oswalt's $16 million option for 2012.
An expected move, Oswalt will receive a $2 million buyout. The 34-year-old right-hander was limited to just 23 starts this season due to a back injury, but still posted a 3.69 ERA and 93/39 K/BB ratio over 139 innings. The Phillies remain interested in bringing him back at a lesser salary.
