Utley Injury Update

Chase Utley (knee) is expected to travel Friday to the Phillies' spring training complex.
Utley should begin playing in extended spring training games soon, then he'll transition into rehab games with the Phillies' affiliate in the Florida State League. It's an exciting step in the right direction for the injured second baseman, who is aiming to return to the big leagues by the end of May. He's out currently with patellar tendinitis.

Looks like Utley will make it before the All Star break unlike what Charlie Manuel said earlier in the season, Manuel has no idea of course. Phillie fans have to be excited to see this and are probably hoping he doesn't rush it. The Phillies are doing better than I thought considering all the injuries to Utley, Lidge and Contreras. Their schedule hasn't been difficult thus far but still, they are winning the games they have to. Getting Utley in a groove for the second half is the key.

Playing in his first rehab game with Single-A Clearwater, Chase Utley singled in the eighth inning to finish 1-for-4.
"The knee felt good," Utley said. "I didn't get to do a whole lot of activity." His rehab will last up to 20 days, as the Phillies must activate him by May 30.

The Marlins and Braves have some work to do before May 30th

Utley started his rehab with the Clearwater Threshers as the DH on Tues. night going 1 for 4. He is expected to play again tomorrow night as well as Oswalt & Ruiz.

Chase Utley (knee) homered and drew a walk Thursday in a rehab game at Single-A Clearwater.
Utley also played five innings at second base and reported no problems with his knee. He's expected to spend at least two weeks taking at-bats in the minor leagues.

Good to see them ease him in and only play five innings and letting another player get some playing time.

Utley has been activated and is ready to go for the Phillies.

The team was so excited to have him back they didn’t even need him to hit.

The guy pretty much can do anything for the Phillies this season and they will cheer him. He currently is hitting only .231 with a .344 on base percentage, but he has only been up to the plate 61 times. He will still be hitting his usual .290 and scoring runs for the strong Phils line up.
