Wow, simply cannot understand how this guy keeps getting a job year after year.
Because the job is grunt work in baseball terms, and he's still good at it, for someone who's 37.
Juan Castro really is the textbook definition of a player where stats do not tell the complete picture. Judging him by his statistical output, most seasons, would like involve him getting letting go but he practically is like adding another coach to the team. Good guy.

Would you compare him to Vizquel in that aspect? Surely we are not talking about talent, but as a good mentor type for the young guys.
No. Vizquel is outspoken, whereas Castro...well, I don't know if he even talks.
Yeah, not a vocal leader. From all accounts I read from Reds beat writers, he is the quiet type, the kind of leader that isn't boisterous but still helpful and influential.
