Brad Lidge underwent surgery Wednesday to repair his flexor pronator tendon in his right hip and to have a loose body removed from his elbow.
"Brad could be one to two weeks behind in spring training, but, overall, we feel very good about his recovery time," GM Ruben Amaro Jr. said. "We're hopeful that he will be ready close to Opening Day." While there's been talk that the Phillies would sign a closer this winter, odds are that Lidge will have the job going into next season.
Scott Eyre underwent surgery to remove loose fragments from his left elbow on Monday.
Eyre will be a free agent this winter, but has made it clear that he plans to either pitch for the Phillies or retire. The 37-year-old southpaw posted a 1.50 ERA in 30 innings out the Philadelphia bullpen in 2009.
Raul Ibanez underwent surgery to repair a sports hernia on Monday.
General manager Ruben Amaro Jr. said the sports hernia was on the left side of his body, but that Dr. Bill Meyers also repaired some damage on the right side of Ibanez's abdomen. The 37-year-old outfielder is expected to be ready for spring training.
