I was reading somewhere that in one of his recent starts, his fastball was topping out in the mid 80's. Not exactly a good sign for a power pitcher of sorts, and especially not a good sign for the man who was expected to be Cole Hamels right handed accomplice in competing in the N.L. East.
Right now, Myers has been struggling.. extremely struggingly to the tune of the worst ERA in the staff (yes, edging out the "great" Adam Eaton's 5.59 ERA). He's 2-5 with a 5.76 ERA (whoops, duck). Want some more lovely nuggets of info (do chickens really have nuggets?), Myers has given up 15 homeruns in under 60 innings. So, let's say he shoots for 200 innings, he's on pace for more than 45 homeruns right now. To be more specific, if he logs 35 starts, he's on pace for 52.5 homeruns. WE HAVE A NEW HOMERUN CHAMP FOLKS, MOVE OVER RYAN HOWARD AND CHASE UTLEY. By Comparison, Hamels-Eaton- and Kyle Kendrick are on pace for half that.
Your obligatory backup to Cole Hamels is sinking faster than Dana Eveland's ERA.
Looks like his wife or girlfriend should be beating him up.
On the brightside, did you know Chad Durbin and Brad Lidge have combined to only give up.. one homerun?
