    Phillies Lock Up Romero

FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal reports that the Phillies and J.C. Romero have come to terms on a three-year, $12 million contract.
An option for 2011 could make the deal worth $16.75 million. Romero gets the contract based entirely on three months of work. He had a 6.75 ERA in 2006, and no one was willing to pay him $900,000-$1 million for the rest of 2007 after the Red Sox placed him on waivers in late June. He was exceptional for the Phillies, but given his history, that just doesn't mean much going forward.
Way too much money for this guy! I do think it was smart for the Phillies to bring him back especially getting Lidge but not for this much. Watch this blow up in their face like Gordon did.

Wow. Talk about cashing in. He was very good as a set-up guy for the Twins and was traded to the Angels for Alexi Casilla in a forgettable deal for the Angels.
He could stabilize the Phillies bullpen nicely and pitch in anytime in the game. He could even close if Lidge blows up again.
