I updated the minor league forum with a thread for the Arizona Fall League, which has a 32 game schedule. There are 6 A's prospects playing for the Phoenix Desert Dogs.

AFL is over. The Desert Dogs won the championship. I may update the minor league forum with winter ball stats at some point.

What would you like to see in the minor league forum this year? Any ideas about mixing it up or is the current setup good?

In the past I've made a thread for each of the minor league teams. Each team thread has links to the team site, the standings, and a weekly update (give or take a day or two) of the games. I'm just trying to see how we can improve it.

I think it's great and I'm sorry I don't contribute much but I don't have a lot of time to follow the minor league teams. Hopefully that will change this year.

We need some more A's fans.

no need to apologize...I'm just as much to blame as anyone else here...we need more fans and I wish more would come...that I could recruit some. There aren't many in RI I'll think of some stuff...

Either way it's all good. I was looking at the thread topics on the A's site the other day and was like WTF? It tends to get pretty political over there as well. I love this forum.

No politics section here and it was on the A's website; they're having a Hillary lovefest over there. I don't want a politics section and prefer to just toss my bombs randomly.

I wish they'd hurry up and get the deal done in Fremont.

Hey fellas. Admittedly I have not read this thread entirely. But I was wondering what is up with Barton. I haven't heard much about him for over a year now. He was supposed to be a very disciplined hitter with some power, wasn't he? So where is he now?

Actually I think he's in camp for spring training. Let me double check the A's website and get back to you. Now you got me curious.

ADH is correct in that he is in camp this spring. He will start the year at AAA as he was hurt a lot of last season with a fractured elbow during a collision while running the bases. The only knock on him is that he hasn't shown a lot of power. He gets on base at a high rate and hits for a good average, but he hasn't shown the home run power yet. He also doesn't really have a true position. He was a catcher, but they have him at 1B now IIRC. There was also talk of putting him the OF. He may also end up being a DH. Here are his minor league statistics:

    Code:
Year	Age	Org.	Level Pos	G	AB	R	H	2B	3B	HR	RBI	SB	CS	BB	SO	HBP	IBB	SH SF	DP AVG	OBP	SLG	OPS
    2003	18	Stl	Rk c-dh	54	170	29	50	10	0	4	29	0	3	37	48	2	0	0	3	2 .294	.420	.424	.844
    2004	19	Stl	A c-dh	90	313	63	98	23	0	13	77	4	4	69	44	8	9	0	3	7 .313	.445	.511	.956
    2005	20	Oak	A+ 1b-dh	79	292	60	93	16	2	8	52	0	1	62	49	3	0	0	4	6 .318	.438	.469	.907
     	20	Oak	AA 1b	56	212	38	67	20	1	5	37	1	1	35	30	0	1	0	2	5 .316	.410	.491	.901
    2006	21	Oak	Rk 1b	2	5	1	1	1	0	0	2	0	0	0	0	0	0	0	0	0 .200	.200	.400	.600
     	21	Oak	AAA 1b	43	147	25	38	6	4	2	22	1	0	32	26	0	0	0	1	4 .259	.389	.395	.784
    Minor League Totals - 4 Season(s) 324	1139	216	347	76	7	32	219	6	9	235	197	13	10	0	13	24 .305	.425	.468	.890
The bottom line is that his OPS is .890 for all the minors so far, but it went down in the short time at AAA...he's needs to demonstrate that he can do it for a longer period at AAA.

As usual nice work Prov. I'll be paying particular attention to this guy during the spring.
