Jason Perry hit for the cycle and earned the MiLB.com Star of the Day on Sunday afternoon as the Midland RockHounds doubled up the Corpus Christi Hooks, 20-10, in a Texas League slugfest.
Perry went 4-for-6 with four RBIs to help the RockHounds (6-4) to their third straight win. The 25-year-old right fielder singled in the third inning, tripled in the fifth, homered in the seventh and doubled in the eighth to complete the cycle. All four hits came off different pitchers.
Melillo collected four singles and a pair of doubles, becoming the first player to get six hits in a game against Corpus Christi (5-5). The second baseman singled and doubled in Midland's seven-run seventh inning.
The RockHounds scored at least one run in every inning they batted, getting three in the third and three more in the eighth. Every starting position player had at least one of Midland's 26 hits.
