A's get spanked by the Royals today 17 - 7. 6 of the runs were unearned and 5 others were given up by some guy that won't even be on the team Chavez had 3 hits including a double and a homer.

More progress for Thomas. Hopefully, he'll be ready for opening day.Thomas wasn't too interested in his results -- three walks, a strikeout and a double -- saying he just needed the work.
"It was great to see a lot of pitches," he said. "I really enjoyed that. I enjoyed going 3-2 a lot. I faced about 25 pitches and that was good for the day. I'm not having any pain, only soreness from running."
Thomas was not scheduled to hit again on Sunday, but if there are available pitchers, he could return to the Minor League camp for additional at-bats.
The game against the Angels was rained out today, but we beat the Cu-hubs.

Zito went 6 giving up 3 earned. Ellis homered to lead off the game for the A's. Harden starts tomorrow vs. the M's
Sounds like Chavez is hot this spring- let's just hope that it carries over into the regular season and he avoids his usual slow start. He has to be excited with the offseason and having some real protection in the lineup for once. Any word on how Bradley is doing?
last I checked Bradley was batting a robust .196 or so
He'll be fine. BTW, who's our opening night starter? I assume it's Zito.Originally Posted by Providence A's
yea, I posted an article or two mixed in here somewhere that mentioned that. Also one that said Harden is on target to start the 2nd game of the season.
I assume then that it's Zito, Harden, Haren, Loaiza, Blanton for the rotation...
Harden pitched well today (5 innings, 1 earned run, 3 walks, 4 hits, 7 k's), Antonio Perez homered and drove in 4, and Payton homered as the A's beat the Mariners 7 - 1.

More good news for Frank.Big Hurt update
Frank Thomas, facing A's minor leaguers, went 3-for-8 with a single, double and three strikeouts. He jogged to first base after his hits.
"It's more about timing," said hitting coach Gerald Perry. "He hit one out of the park (foul). He just missed a couple of other ones. I thought it was another good day."
The next step for Thomas will be facing Joe Blanton, who will throw at the minor-league complex at Papago Park on Thursday. Blanton was supposed to start that day against the Los Angeles Angels, but the A's want him to get his pitch count up.
There's still no word on when Thomas will play in an exhibition game. He'll likely have the go-ahead to run the bases this week.
"I don't see the rush," Perry said. "I like what he's doing now."
hmmmm...it's just ST, I wouldn't be worried about Witasick. With the Seattle Mariners trading reliever Matt Thornton to the Chicago White Sox for outfielder Joe Borchard, the Sox interest in A's reliever Juan Cruz has diminished considerably, a person familiar with the talks said Monday. The A's were said to be interested in minor-league outfielder Brian Anderson. However, the A's, who are concerned about Jay Witasick's poor spring, might decide to keep Cruz as insurance....

A's beat the Giants today 6 - 4. Haren was sharp and Bradley homered...got that average up to .250.
Bradley takes out anger on a baseball or two.

I like this...bringing some fire to the A's"I came in here trying to be too nice, I was smiling and happy and I wasn't very good on the field," Bradley said. "I have to be a little rowdy, a little nasty, and take it out on the baseball field."
