OAKLAND -- A's closer Huston Street on Thursday moved a step closer to repeating the postseason sweep pulled off last winter by teammate Bobby Crosby when he was named the recipient of the Players Choice Award as the American League's Outstanding Rookie of 2005.
Street, 22, recently was named The Sporting News AL Rookie of the Year, and if he picks up the Baseball Writers' Association of America's top rookie honor when it's announced Monday, he'll have matched Crosby's sweep of the AL's three major rookie awards in 2004.
The Players Choice Awards are the culmination of a unique process that annually allows players on all 30 teams to cast their votes.
