I'm going to see short season class A Vermont Lake Monsters in Connecticut tomorrow and tonight's game postponed to tomorrow. Now there's a doubleheader. I'll be able to stay and watch 2 games now. Woo hoo! I believe the games are only 7 innings when they do doubleheaders in the minors.

Bah. The Lake Monsters lost both games (8 - 0 and 9 - 6) to fall to 8 - 7 while Connecticut improved to 5 - 10. Ugh.

Ouch... Those are tough games to watch, giving up 17 runs in 2 games.

They made a few errors, gave up a few walks, and gave up 3 homers in the 2 games (2 to the same guy...1 in each game).

That's where they learn to pitch around some guys. Lol

Also, the Lake Monsters have a great logo.

They have it labeled wrong on their website. It says that one is the road hat, but it isn't. Last night and the game I went to last year they wore the all navy blue one at Connecticut. They have that hat labeled as the home hat. I assume the one I have and pictured is the home hat.

So...we went to a game last night that was longer in time and in innings than the double-header we saw; 18 innings!

Vermont lost 4 - 3 on a walk-off homer. They took the lead 3 - 2 in the top of the 18th. An infielder was pitching. He got the final out of the 17 and the first two of the 18th. The 3rd baseman made an error and the next guy hit a fucking homer. I was so pissed. Only 1 of Connecticut's runs was earned on the night. Vermont only made 2 errors and both were costly.

They made some damn sweet plays though. The CF made several awesome plays including a diving catch in the gap to save some runs. The RF made a game saving catch in the bottom of the 11th (the box score and recap list it as the LF...but it was the RF). He dove to make a spectacular catch. The runner on 2nd thought it was going to fall and got doubled off of 2nd. If he missed it, game over. He threw a runner out on a force play at 2nd earlier in the game, too.

I got my tickets to the game on Wednesday June 26th. The only other time Vermont comes to CT is 4th of July weekend and I've got other plans.

I hope to get back out to Oakland and San Francisco later in the summer.
