It remains to be seen how Payton, a right-handed hitter, will fit in with the A's, who already are using four outfielders on a regular basis in Mark Kotsay, Bobby Kielty, Eric Byrnes and rookie Nick Swisher. Byrnes has been mentioned in trade rumors for the past six months, and multiple sources have said the A's have been actively looking to move him.

don't be suprised if Payton is moved again...especially if Byrnes doesn't get traded

I don't know how this is gonna work. Payton wanted out specifically because he wasn't getting PT and I don't see how he's gonna get any significant PT in Oakland.

yup. Payton is still the 4th OF though. Kotsay, Swisher, Kielty, and Payton...plus Charles Thomas is probably going to be called up at some point.

His average has slipped to .265 after starting out hot, but his OBP is still .343 with 6 doubles, 2 triples, 2 homers, and 14 RBI in 28 games.

Payton happy to be in Oaktown
