It's back to making these again. It all seems so foreign now...but I'll get back into the swing of things by the next series.

Smith vs Mussina
Smith's getting this start in place of big Kentucky Joe, who was traded sometime yesterday. Smith threw six innings of shutout baseball against the M's in his last start, but got no run support (nothing new to him), and ended up with another ND. Mussina will be on the mound for the first game of the second half for the Pinstripers. He last pitched on the 10th against the Pirates, where he allowed two earned runs on nine hits in six innings of work.

Duchscherer vs Chamberlin
Two days before pitching in the ASG, Duke pitcked 7 2/3 innings of two-run baseball, but ended up with a ND. It's the 15th of 16 starts that he's allowed two runs or less in a game. He's yet to allow three or more earned runs. On the other side, Chamberlin will be making his first start against the A's ever. He's been extremely effective for the Yankees since joining the rotation, but doesn't have much to show for it due to a lack of run support.

Gallagher vs Pettitte
In his first start as an American Leaguer, Gallagher proved that he can wil games just as easily as Harden, pitching seven dominant innings of two-hit, two-run ball. This will be his first career start against the Yankees. Pettitte, who had a surprisingly successful first half, saw it come to a disappointing end as he endured a four-run second inning against the Jays en route to his seventh loss of the season. Fun fact of the day-in all of Pettitte's losses, he's allowed seven or more hits. Guess we have our work cut out for us.
The middle game will be the game to watch IMO. Our All-Star against their young phenom...priceless. But other than that, it's really anybody's series. Neither team is doing exceptionally well, but the A's are reorganizing themselves from the Blanton trade while the Yankees are recovering from the ever-lasting ASG. IN OTHER NEWS - Thomas is looking to return before the month's end, although it's looking very sketchy. Sweeney isn't going to be back until sometime in August at best, but Crosby could be back today.
