    I just got a text message from ESPN MLB allerts, saying that Johnson has been designated for assignment.

    Yeah he was. DFA to make room for Smith. I think it was in his best interest too, not just the team's. He would've been hard pressed to find playing time with Barton and Cust and Sweeny. I don't think he'll want to go back to the minors. I've heard rumors that the Giants might be interested in him...
