The high wall and the wind. Not too many people can make it over that wall in that wind. Not a lot of people have made into McCovey's Cove.

well, it doesn't look like he's going to make the team at this point...hopefully, we can move him for something...anything
You can have Roberts
no thanks...we wouldn't be adding old players or salary...
Johnson homered again today to go along with 4 RBIs. Barton homered, scored twice, had 3 RBIs, and 3 walks. Oh, Harden and Casilla were sharp today.
http://www.contracostatimes.com/athl...nclick_check=1The A's made it official Saturday that third baseman Eric Chavez will not accompany the team to Japan for the season-opening series against the Boston Red Sox.
That decision snaps Chavez's streak of nine straight Opening Day starts at third base, which is tied with Sal Bando (1968-76) and Terry Steinbach (1988-96) for most consecutive Opening Day starts by an Oakland position player.
The news didn't come as a surprise considering Chavez has yet to play in an exhibition game because of soreness in his lower back, which required offseason surgery.
With the A's leaving Wednesday for Japan to prepare for the Red Sox series March 25-26, chances appeared slim he would be on the flight.
"He's just not ready to play yet," A's manager Bob Geren said after a 10-2 win over the Giants. "He's going to focus on getting ready and healthy to play. He'll be shooting for when we get back. He'll be monitored daily."
Yeah I heard that (Chavez isn't going to Japan). He (Chavez) is hoping to stay in Arizona and get a few more ABs in while he's still in a laid-back environment so he could be ready for the A's first homestand.
That's no surprise about Chavez.
In other news, it appears Mike Sweeney will make the team as he will be traveling to Japan...but it seems Todd Linden won't make the team. He's been tearing it up all spring. He did speak out saying he didn't think he'd make it a while ago and then just yesterday he said he'd be surprised if he didn't make the trip to Japan.
The Official Site of The Oakland Athletics: News: Athletics set roster for Japan
The roster is set for the trip to Japan with the 4 starters being announced (2 exhibition / 2 regular season). No real surprises if you've been paying attention.
The A's won their first exhibition game in Japan last night. Crosby and Hannahan homered in the win. Bowen doubled in a run with 2 outs in the 9th and then scored the winning run on Brown's single.
Bummer about Chavez. Chavez might have to DH 30-40 games this year to keep his bat in the lineup. The A's have decided to shut down all baseball activities for Eric Chavez until his back is pain-free.
Chavez had hoped to be ready for the A's first game back in the U.S., but there's no way that's happening now. In truth, with this latest setback, he simply can't be counted on at all. Jack Hannahan figures to be Oakland's starting third baseman for the entire month of April and perhaps beyond.
Whaddya know he's starting the season on the DL. Well it's not officialy flinalized yet, but given everything that's been happening, it's safe to say he'll be on the DL. Oh joy.
That is a bummer for the A's. Eric Chavez is a key to the middle of there lineup. He really needs to be healthy.
Woohoo we're beating the Hanshin Tigers 3-1 in the top of the third. Two homers, one by Jack Cust and the other by Travis Buck. So far, so good...
I see Dr. Jeckyl & Mr. Hyde is up to his old tricks. Has he struck out yet? Hee Hee only joking.
Murphy added a late grand slam to help us to the 10 - 2 win yesterday. I hope we beat the Red Sox bad in both games. It'd be sweet.
