The Oakland Athletics placed designated hitter Erubiel Durazo on the 15-day disabled list with tendinitis in his left elbow Friday.
It is the seventh time Durazo has gone on the DL, but the first since being acquired by the Athletics before the 2003 season. The move was made retroactive to Wednesday and Oakland called up first baseman Dan Johnson from Sacramento of the Triple-A Pacific Coast League to fill the roster spot.
``He's been feeling some aggravation in the elbow and the trainers felt that shutting him down for 15 days would be the best medicine,'' Oakland manager Ken Macha said of Durazo. ``If this had been September or August, we probably would not have done it, but this gives him time to get a little treatment and come back.''
