Meyer was sent back down to AAA (I imagine he'll be back up in Sept) to "work on his off-speed pitches." Esteban DUIza gets the call and will make his 2007 debut this week

Ok so Meyer wasn't exactly on his game, then again, his defense didn't exaclty help him out either. But like you said, he'll probably be back in September. As for Loaiza, I'm rather looking foward to seeing his performance. I really hope that the entire season on the DL proves to be a good idea.
I'm not really looking forward to him. I didn't like his signing in the 1st place. He was hurt a lot of last season and only pitched well for 1 month. He's been hurt all of this season and whined about making more than 1 rehab start (he ended up making 4). It sounds like his velocity is still down. I expect him to get hammered. IMHO, the best case scenario is that he does well for the remainder of the season and then Beane can move him in his final year, but regardless, he's been a terrible signing.
Well said. I agree. That $7 mil a year for 3 years wasn't worth it. Who knows what Billy will do. You can never predict that guy. He's just crazy.
Buh-bye Loaiza:

yay...Chavez, Buck, and Kotsay are done for the year. How long before Harden is done? Oh, wait, he already is...
Piazza hasn't ruled out A's in '08

The season hasn't gone exactly as planned for Oakland slugger Mike Piazza. The designated hitter, who signed a 1-year, $8.5 million contract in the offseason, has spent more than a month on the disabled list with a sprained right shoulder. And getting acclimated to the American League for the first time in his illustrious career has taken some patience. But Piazza, 39, hasn't ruled out a return next season, either in Oakland or elsewhere. Piazza hasn't yet been contacted by the Oakland front office for a possible return next year, which would be his 17th in the majors.
Harden claims that he's been "healthy" for a while now...healthy enough to not have pitched?
aww look, now Harden has been shut down for the season. He's getting his shoulder checked out again and hopes to play in the fall instructional league.
Wake me when this nightmare of a season is over. Trade Harden, Crosby and even Chavez.
It has been a nitemare of a season, but we have had a few shining moments. Obviously not as big as the bad ones, but Cust was a nice find, and I think that Suzuki and Barton will establish themselves...
It's amazing that we didn't finish in last place with all the injuries we had
So what do you guys think a one-year deal for Cust to see if he's the real deal?
