I added the standings to the 1st post. The Ports are 4 - 7 so far.

Mazzaro is off to a great start. He actually took a no-hitter into the 7th the other night in a 4 - 2 win. I wish Herrera would start hitting. The Ports are now 12 - 11.

The Ports are now 19 - 18 and 5 games back. Herrera has picked it up a little.

The Ports are still 1 game over .500 and now are only 4 games back.

The Ports are 3 games over .500 and only 2 games back of the division leader.

Mazzaro fans 12

Vin Mazzaro struck out a career-high 12 over seven one-hit innings as Stockton beat visiting High Desert, 5-1, on Thursday.

Mazzaro flirted with a no-hitter before Adam Moore homered with two outs in the seventh. He responded by striking out Reed Eastley to end the frame.

The hard-throwing right-hander retired 13 straight batters after issuing a one-out walk to Michael Saunders in the first. Jeffrey Dominguez reached on an error by first baseman Tommy Everidge with two outs in the fifth, but Mazzaro set down the next six hitters before Moore went deep.

Mazzaro's previous career best in strikeouts was nine against Peoria last Aug. 6 for Class A Kane County.

It looks like the kid is back from injury last season. Hopefully, he can build on that performance.

Stockton finished at .500 and in 2nd place for the 1st half. They're in 2nd place now as well.

Herrera has been called up to AA Midland I'm sure it was some combination of necessity with the injuries at the top and him doing better than he started. I hope he does well and can possibly end at AAA...or at least start there next season.

Well, the Ports really stunk up the joint in the 2nd half and finished below .500 overall...
