    Could be.
I'm sure Cano will get votes just for being a Yankee. And.. Kazmir has a crappy win/loss record, and I'm out of rookies [walks away]

If Swisher or Street can keep it going, one of them will win it...

    Keither Ginter RP

No, not relief pitcher, but right pine...

Detroit -- One look at the lineup Tuesday told Keith Ginter everything he needed to know.

Eric Chavez was back in the Bay Area after attending the birth of his first child, a son named Diego, on Monday, but Ginter was not at third, a position he has played quite a bit -- 120 games at the big-league level. Marco Scutaro (seven games) was there.

"It just proved to me I'm not going to play, flat-out," said Ginter, who was acquired from Milwaukee last winter for Justin Lehr and Nelson Cruz. "I'm here in case three guys get hurt."
I feel bad for the guy, but when he's been in there he hasn't produced...it's tough to do well unless you play consistently though, so it's a catch 22.

Also of note from the previous article:

According to Macha, Daric Barton won't be called up from Double- A Midland when rosters expand. He's only 20 and there's too big a gap between Double-A pitching and the big leagues.
He'll be up at some point next year I bet.

The A's have 36 games left...20 more wins and they will 90. To equal last year's total of 91 (which we missed the playoffs by 1 game) we need to win 21 of the last 36, which a winning percentage of .583...for the season our winning percentage is .556. I think we need to play better .600 ball the rest of the way we'll make the playoffs. That would give us more than 92 wins.

I was in ESPN chat with Joe Morgan this morning and they finally answered a question of mine:

    John (Providence)
Joe, how do you like the A's chances of making the playoffs after everyone wrote them off in May? Do you like what Beane has done?

    JOE MORGAN
It's inevitable that after the long winning stretch they had that things would fall off because you can't continue to play .800 ball all season. The fact that they bounced back the last two days against Detroit shows they are still in it and the offense is what's going to win games for them. They win games 7-6 or 9-7 and lose when they don't score, so that will be the biggest factor for them, just like every other team in the races.
I don't recall seeing many high scoring affairs like that. We've score a lot of runs sometimes, but our pitching seems to keep us in it.

I agree. Then again I'll laugh if ANYBODY makes it but the Yank-Me's.

I looked today and we are 26 - 13 since the ASG and that's a .667 percentage, so if we can come close to that, I think we may sneak in...

A's righty Joe Blanton might have wrapped up his second American League Rookie of the Month award on Friday, and there are only six such awards per season.
Given that no other rookie has more than one, it stands to reason that Blanton would be a frontrunner to succeed teammate Bobby Crosby as AL Rookie of the Year award.

"Blanton, oh my goodness," said A's manager Ken Macha. "He's been extremely impressive. ... He should be Pitcher of the Month, not just rookie pitcher."
Interesting...as everyone seems to think that Street or Swisher will get rookie of the year and Johnson has been tearing it up since he got called up, too...I hope these guys don't steal too many votes from each other and some less deserving bum wins...Blanton has gone good month, bad month, good month, bad month...although July wasn't nearly as bad as May, hopefully he'll break the trend for September

Thus, manager Ken Macha said, someone who can play infield and outfield will be called up from Triple-A Sacramento and join the team Monday. Macha wouldn't say who it will be, but MLB.com has learned that it is Freddie Bynum, whose stock within the organization has been steadily rising throughout the season.

Unlike River Cats teammate Jermaine Clark, who also plays infield and outfield, Bynum is on Oakland's 40-man roster. And while Keith Ginter, who was optioned to Sacramento on Friday, is a utility infielder who played a little outfield in a pinch for the A's, transaction rules dictate that he and must remain in the Minors for at least 10 days.

Bynum, drafted as a second baseman in the second round of the 2000 First-Year Player Draft out of Pitt Community College in North Carolina, has played second base, shortstop, third base and all three outfield positions in the Minors.
It appears that Flores, who was just called up for the 2nd time this season, will be sent back down as the A's expect Harden to make his start on Thursday and therefore move Kennedy back into the bullpen.

Crosby's on the DL? What happened to him?
I did a lot of good things as a sim league GM.

Ah, give me something clever to say here.
