New York Yankees left-handed pitcher Al Leiter has announced his retirement following today's appearance versus the Cleveland Indians.
Leiter posted a career Major League record of 162-132 with a 3.80 ERA in 419 appearances (382 starts). He was a member of two World Series championship teams (the 1993 Toronto Blue Jays and 1997 Florida Marlins) and was a two-time National League All-Star (1996 and 2000).
Not a major surprise, but Leiter had a nice run. He was a solid pitcher for many years, he won a couple rings, he was a two-time all-star. Simply a solid career that anyone can be proud of.
