Tony Womack VS. Mark Bellhorn

Both players had extraordinary seasons in 2004, and aren't likely to repeat. Prior to 2004, Tony Womack was horrible, and nobody wanted him. The Red Sox gave him away in Spring Training, and he ends up having a decent year on a very good team.

Don't know a lot about either, but from what I remember. Bellhorn has been decent on the Sox, and I think he's more likely to repeat that.

Now, I think Womack is a big improvement over Enrique Wilson. As long as Womack plays good each game, and hits decent. I'll be happy with him.

It's close, but I give the edge to Bellhorn. He had a few clutch hits after an early postseason slump, and gets on base more than Womack. Womack does have the edge in speed and fielding and is an upgrade over Cairo, but Bellhorn takes it by a little.

Haven't really remembered the 2nd baseman since Soriano.

Have to give the edge to Bellhorn. Younger and more power.

Bellhorn. Far more patient, more power, and more likely to repeat his year, although Womack's year from 2004 is underrated in general circles.

I think it's a draw. But if I had absolutely had to go with somebody, I would take Womack. One thing I remember about Bellhorn in the postseason were his constant strikeouts, before Francona finally moved him down in the lineup.

Bellhorn strikes out at an insane rate, but I think that's a product of him walking so much. He's so patient that he's willing to get down in the count, looking for his pitch. I don't take that much of an issue with it, since I feel a K is pretty much a regular out sans any productive content.

I'd be willing to argue, that if Cairo was healthy for all of 2004, his season was pretty much the same (little less OBP, little more SLG) as comapred to Womack.

Bellhorn is a former Cub and was good when we had him. I would definetly take him over the ex-Cardinal Womack .
